Rathindra Bose has been nominated by the Bharatiya Janata Party as its candidate for the Speaker’s post in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

The announcement was made on Thursday by Suvendu Adhikari while speaking to reporters inside the Assembly.

Adhikari said Bose, a first-time legislator representing Cooch Behar Dakshin, would contest the election for the constitutional post scheduled for Friday.

Reacting to his nomination, Bose said that if elected Speaker, he would discharge his duties with the motto of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”.

The All India Trinamool Congress had not announced its candidate for the post at the time of the announcement.
