A Delhi court on Tuesday remanded Indian Youth Congress (IYC) president Uday Bhanu Chib to four days of police custody in connection with the protest that took place at Bharat Mandapam during the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

According to officials, Chib is alleged to be the key conspirator behind an unlawful assembly at the venue on Friday, February 20, 2026. Police claim that the protest involved raising anti-national slogans and attempts to create a riot-like situation during the summit.

Investigators have alleged that Chib, along with co-accused Shree Krishna Hari, Kundan Yadav, Narsimha Yadav and Ajay Kumar Yadav, obstructed and assaulted police personnel who were on duty at the venue. Police further claimed that during questioning, Chib did not cooperate with the investigation and failed to reveal details about other alleged accomplices who escaped from the spot, as well as the source of T-shirts used by protesters.

Officials said the probe is continuing and police custody was sought to enable sustained interrogation and a thorough investigation into the incident. Chib was arrested earlier in the day and subsequently produced before Patiala House Court.

Police said Chib has been booked under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 196, which deals with promoting enmity between groups and is a non-bailable offence. Other sections invoked include those related to criminal conspiracy, assaulting or obstructing public servants, offences committed by members of an unlawful assembly, acts prejudicial to national integration, and common intention.
