“A huge consignment of arms, ammunition and narcotics has been recovered,” the DGP said.
The seized items include one Ghaffar security pistol, 20 other pistols, 39 magazines, 310 live cartridges, two backpacks and 2.160 kg of heroin.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that Pakistan-based smugglers, operating near the zero line, took advantage of dense fog and night conditions to push arms and narcotics into Indian territory,” Yadav said.
He added that BSF personnel, who were on high alert, fired several rounds to prevent the breach, after which a joint search operation was launched, leading to the recovery of the consignment.
