New Delhi
The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested a man from Sikkim in connection with a large-scale drug trafficking case involving narcotics valued at around Rs 13,000 crore, sources said on Monday.
The accused has been identified as 40-year-old Tilak Prasad Sharma. Investigators allege that he played a role in supplying cannabis procured from Thailand to the drug syndicate under scrutiny.
According to sources, Sharma’s arrest is linked to a major enforcement operation conducted on October 2, 2024, during which cocaine and cannabis worth approximately Rs 13,000 crore were seized. The recoveries were made from multiple locations across Delhi, Gujarat and Punjab.
Officials said the investigation has revealed the involvement of an extensive trafficking network with operations spanning several states. The alleged kingpin of the syndicate, Virendra Basoya, is currently believed to be outside the country.
A Red Corner Notice has been issued against Basoya’s son, Rishabh, who is also said to be abroad, as agencies continue efforts to track down key suspects, sources added.
During the multi-state crackdown last year, more than 15 individuals were arrested, exposing the scale and reach of the narcotics network. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
