Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Saturday said a forensic science laboratory (FSL) report has concluded that the video clip linked to Leader of Opposition Atishi’s alleged remarks on Sikh Gurus was original and showed no signs of tampering.
Addressing a press conference, Gupta said the clip was sent for forensic examination on January 8 following demands from the opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). “The report clearly establishes that the video is authentic and that the remarks attributed to Atishi match the clip frame by frame,” he said.
However, Delhi AAP president Saurabh Bharadwaj rejected the findings, arguing that the report failed to address whether Atishi had actually used the word “Gurus”. He accused the BJP of attempting to inflame religious sentiments and demanded action against its leaders for circulating the clip.
The controversy escalated after Punjab Police, operating under the AAP government, claimed its own forensic analysis found the video to be doctored and registered an FIR in the matter. Following this, AAP’s Delhi Assembly chief whip Sanjiv Jha sought privilege action against minister Kapil Mishra for sharing the clip online.
Gupta alleged that the Punjab government conducted a “hasty” forensic probe and said he would seek a CBI investigation into both the incident and the Punjab-led examination. He claimed the issue revealed a political conspiracy that harmed the dignity of Sikh Gurus.
The Speaker said Atishi should appear before him and tender an apology, warning that failure to do so would invite strict action by the Assembly. He also cautioned the Punjab Chief Minister against interfering in the affairs of the Delhi Assembly.
The row stems from remarks allegedly made by Atishi in the Assembly on January 6 during a discussion on a Delhi government programme marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. The issue has since triggered a political confrontation between the BJP-led Delhi government and the AAP government in Punjab.

Meanwhile, minister Kapil Mishra maintained that the FSL report validated the allegations and accused AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal of misusing Punjab Police to shield Atishi.
