Earthquake of 4.1 magnitude hits Arunachal's West Kameng

An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale struck Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district on Wednesday morning, officials said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property.

According to the National Centre for Seismology, the tremor occurred at 8.57 am at a depth of 5 kilometres.

Confirming the development, Nyelam Sunil, technical officer with the seismology division of the Itanagar-based Centre for Earth Science and Himalayan Studies, said the quake was mild in nature.

“So far, there is no report of loss of life or damage to property,” he said.
