At a time when society is often filled with talk of religious differences, a heart-warming story from Kharbhaiya village in Bihar’s Patna district brings comfort and hope. Geeta Kumari, fondly known as Geeta Devi, has set an extraordinary example of communal harmony that makes everyone pause and reflect.
Near Geeta Devi’s home stood an old mosque that had fallen into severe disrepair over the years. Its condition had deteriorated so much that offering prayers there had become difficult. When Geeta Devi noticed the state of the mosque, she did not ignore it. One simple thought guided her, if it is a place of worship, it deserves respect, regardless of which religion it belongs to.
With this belief, Geeta Devi, along with her brother, decided to get the mosque repaired. Without any discrimination, they took up its renovation so that prayers could once again be offered there. The task was not easy, but her sincerity and sense of humanity made every challenge easier to overcome.
Even after the renovation was completed, Geeta Devi’s responsibility did not end. She regularly cleans and looks after the mosque. Villagers say she considers it her duty and takes care of it with deep respect and devotion.

Geeta Devi’s act goes far beyond the repair of a mosque, it delivers a powerful message to society. Her actions show that humanity stands above religion, and true service is that which is done without any bias or division.
This story proves that when intentions are pure, even an ordinary person can bring about meaningful change in society. Today, Geeta Devi stands as a living example of Hindu-Muslim unity, mutual respect and love.
