The Ministry of Defence has signed two defence agreements worth a total of ₹858 crore to strengthen India’s military capabilities.
A contract valued at ₹445 crore has been finalised with Rosoboronexport for the procurement of Tunguska air defence missile systems for the Indian Army. The ministry said these systems will boost India’s multi-layered air defence network, enhancing its ability to counter aerial threats such as drones, aircraft, and cruise missiles. The deal also reinforces the strategic defence ties between India and Russia.
In a separate agreement, a ₹413 crore contract has been signed with Boeing India Defence Private Limited for the maintenance of the Indian Navy’s P-8I long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft.
The ministry said this contract, executed under the “Buy Indian” category with full indigenous content, will support depot-level maintenance at a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility.
