Heavy rain in isolated parts of Rajasthan; Shrimadhopur receives highest of 75 mm

Jaipur

Heavy to very heavy rainfall lashed the isolated parts of Rajasthan during the 24 hours ending Monday morning, with Shrimadhopur in Sikar district recording the highest rainfall of 75 mm, the Meteorological centre said.

Light to moderate rainfall also persisted at several places in the state.

Shrimadhopur in Sikar district recorded the highest rainfall of 75 mm during the period. Jaipur received up to 40 mm of rainfall, while moderate to heavy rainfall was also recorded in Udaipur, Jhalawar, Baran, Sirohi and several other districts.

The south west monsoon is expected to remain active over parts of the Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, Udaipur and Ajmer divisions during the next five to seven days and rainfall is likely over most areas.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in southeastern Rajasthan between July 6 and 9.

In western Rajasthan, parts of the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions are also likely to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over the coming days, while isolated places may witness heavy rainfall on July 7 and 8, the department said.
