Himanta offers prayers at Kamakhya Temple after beginning second term

Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday visited the revered Kamakhya Temple atop the Nilachal Hills and offered prayers for the welfare of Assam and its people during the next five years of his tenure.

Speaking to reporters after offering prayers, the chief minister said he sought the blessings of Goddess Kamakhya for the successful second term of the NDA government in the state and for the continuation of Assam’s development journey.

He said he prayed for the strength and guidance needed to take the state forward on every front and expressed confidence that Assam would witness comprehensive growth in the coming years.

In a post on X, Sarma described Goddess Kamakhya as the supreme mother of the universe and expressed gratitude for her blessings.

He also prayed that the divine grace of the deity continues to guide his government and gives it the strength to fulfil its commitment of building a developed and secure Assam.

Sarma was sworn in as chief minister for a second consecutive term on May 12.
