Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that the ceremonial raising of the religious flag atop the Ram temple in Ayodhya marks a historic moment for the country and reflects the uninterrupted flow of India’s civilisational heritage.
Speaking at the founder’s week celebrations of the Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, Adityanath noted that both the construction of the grand temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi and the installation of the dharma dhwaja serve as symbols of cultural continuity rooted in thousands of years of tradition.
“This is a defining chapter in our civilisational journey, giving every Indian a sense of honour in inheriting this legacy,” he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the saffron flag atop the Ram temple on November 25, in a ceremony attended by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Adityanath, formally marking the completion of the structure.
Adityanath stressed that India’s strength is anchored in its culture, national icons and traditional values, and any weakening of these elements ultimately undermines national unity.
Citing figures such as Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Guru Gobind Singh, Rani Lakshmibai and countless soldiers who laid down their lives for the country, he said their valour continues to inspire generations.
The chief minister added that festivals, collective traditions and cultural observances reinforce national character and bring people together beyond social divides.
He also referred to Prime Minister Modi’s “five pledges”, saying they have helped the country reconnect with its heritage, overcome remnants of colonial thinking and strengthen respect for the armed forces.
Highlighting India’s strong economic performance in recent years, Adityanath said the country has emerged among the fastest-growing major economies.
He maintained that if citizens fulfil their civic duties and uphold unity, India will be able to realise the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

“National identity must stand above caste, region and language. If we remain committed to these five vows, nothing can stop India from becoming a fully developed nation,” he added.
