ICSI elects its New President and Vice President for the year 2026

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has elected CS Pawan G Chandak as its President and CS Dwarakanath Chennur as Vice President for the year 2026, with effect from January 19, 2026.

CS Pawan G Chandak, a practising Company Secretary with specialisation in labour laws and labour welfare, is the founder partner of KPRC & Associates, a firm with a pan-India presence. He brings extensive professional experience in corporate law, foreign exchange regulations, industrial law, legal metrology, secretarial audits, arbitration, SEZs, STPI, EOUs and telecom regulations.

Over the years, Chandak has advised large corporates and multinational companies as an independent director and strategic advisor, with expertise in corporate legal advisory, deal structuring, mergers and amalgamations. He has been associated with ICSI in multiple leadership roles, including Vice President in 2025. Prior to his election to the Central Council for the 2023–26 term, he served on the Western India Regional Council (WIRC), holding positions such as Secretary, Vice-Chairman and Chairman. He has also headed the Pune Chapter of WIRC on two occasions. With more than two decades of professional experience, he is recognised for his hands-on leadership and contributions to governance and compliance frameworks.

CS Dwarakanath Chennur, a Fellow Member of ICSI, holds a B.Com degree from Sri Venkateswara University and an LLB (Special) from Gulbarga University. An Insolvency Professional and empanelled Social Auditor, he began his career as a Company Secretary in 1992 and entered independent practice in 2002. He currently advises private and public sector entities, including listed and foreign subsidiary companies, on matters relating to company law, FEMA, RBI and SEBI regulations, with a focus on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.

Chennur has served the Institute in several capacities, including Chairmanship of the Regulations and Elections Reforms Committee in 2025, the PCS Committee in 2024 and the Peer Review Committee in 2023. Earlier, he was a member of the Secretarial Standards Board and served on the Southern India Regional Council, where he was Chairman in 2013. He has also led the Bangalore Chapter of ICSI and was honoured with the title “Vidya Vikas” in 2014 for his contributions to education.

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India is a statutory professional body established under the Company Secretaries Act, 1980, functioning under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. It is responsible for regulating and developing the profession of Company Secretaries in India and currently has over 78,000 members and approximately 2.5 lakh students enrolled nationwide.
