India-born Singaporean Piyush Gupta will be appointed non-executive chairman of Keppel Ltd, the city-state’s global asset manager and operator, the company announced on Thursday.

Gupta, 66, will succeed retiring chairman Danny Teoh with effect from April 17, Keppel said in a statement.

Currently the deputy chairman of Keppel, Gupta brings over 27 years of international leadership experience and has overseen operations with significant exposure to India and other global markets.

He served as chief executive officer of DBS Group from November 2009 until his retirement in March 2025, during which he led the bank’s transformation into a global financial powerhouse, including the establishment and expansion of its banking subsidiary in India.

Gupta is also an alternate member of Singapore’s Council of Presidential Advisers, which advises the President on custodial matters related to safeguarding national reserves and upholding the integrity of the public service.

His other roles include Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Singapore Management University, Chairman of Mandai Park Holdings, and advisor and non-executive chairman (India) to Temasek International Advisors.

An alumnus of St Stephen’s College, Delhi University, Gupta holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Economics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM Ahmedabad.

Separately, Keppel reported a 29 per cent rise in full-year profit for FY2025, supported by improved performance across all three business segments and higher recurring income. Profit from continuing operations rose to SGD 1.02 billion for the year ended December 31, compared to SGD 787 million a year earlier.
