India has been awarded two important awards for good facilities for pilgrims, Hajj coordination, and better communication during the just concluded Hajj pilgrimage, which saw more than 1.7 million Muslims perform the most important religious duty of their lives.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that for the first time, the Indian Hajj Mission has been awarded two prestigious Labbaytum Awards by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for outstanding performance in Hajj coordination and effective communication.

In a statement released on the social media website, Kiren Rijiju said that the successful completion of the main phase of Hajj 2026 is the result of exemplary coordination and effective cooperation between the Ministry of Minority Affairs, the Hajj Committee of India and the Indian Hajj Mission.

The Indian Hajj mission was led by the Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia, Dr Suhel Ajaz Khan and the Consul General in Jeddah, Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri.

The Minister congratulated all the relevant institutions and officials on this success and also thanked the government of Saudi Arabia. He said that the Saudi authorities provided excellent arrangements and continuous support for the pilgrims.

Kiren Rijiju termed this award as a recognition of the services of the Indian Hajj Mission and its continuous efforts to facilitate pilgrims.

It may be recalled that Rijiju had announced that the entire efforts of the Indian Hajj authorities were aimed at ensuring that no pilgrim lost their life due to heat and exhaustion this year.
