Rajnath Singh on Thursday issued a stern warning to Pakistan over terrorism, asserting that India would respond with greater force if provoked again.

Addressing a public gathering in Merta town in Nagaur after unveiling a statue of Rajput ruler Rao Duda, Singh said Operation Sindoor had sent a strong and unmistakable message across the border.

“Perhaps Pakistan will not dare to look at India with hostility again. But I want to say that if it does, what has not happened till now will happen,” he said.

Singh said India’s policy has always been not to provoke others, but added that any aggression against the country would be met with decisive retaliation.

“From the beginning, our policy was not to provoke anyone. But if anyone provokes us, we do not spare them either,” he said.

Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, Singh said the attack had angered the entire nation, alleging that terrorists targeted victims after asking about their religion.

He said India’s cultural values are rooted in justice, humanity and equality, and such acts of terror were completely against those principles.

“The entire country was angry. We gave such a strong reply that the enemy was stunned. We proved that India is no longer a country that silently suffers. If anyone attacks our citizens, we will enter their homes and respond. No border can stop us,” Singh said.

The defence minister also underlined India’s “zero tolerance” approach towards terrorism, citing the 2016 Indian surgical strikes and the 2019 Balakot airstrike as examples of the country’s evolving security doctrine.
