India’s major Muslim organizations, led by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, met Shad Joynal Abedin, Political Counsellor of the French Embassy in India, on Tuesday, on the issue of the continuing human crisis in the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli Army’s onslaught.

The delegation expressed concern over the ongoing violence and humanitarian crisis in Gaza and appealed to the French government to play a role in ending it.

Jamaat said the delegation asked the French government to escalate international pressure on Israel to end the human rights violations of the people living in Gaza and ensure they are provided relief.

The delegation urged the French Government to take a clear, moral, and firm stance against the ongoing violence in Gaza and attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.

This is not only a violation of international humanitarian law but is also deepening the humanitarian crisis. France should issue a strong public statement on this, demanding the protection of civilians and adherence to international law.

The Indians demanded that the French government support the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Along with this, it should also support the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, which demands an end to Israel's illegal occupation.

They asked the French government to suspend military, economic, and diplomatic relations with Israel so that it follows international law and stops aggression in Gaza.

The delegation asked France to send large-scale humanitarian aid to the victims of Gaza.

The delegation stressed that France must support the Palestinian people's right to self-determination under international law. This includes the right to resist occupation, the right to rule under their own elected representative government, and the right to dignity, sovereignty, and an independent future.

The delegation also made it clear that this is not just an issue of Palestine, but of the whole of humanity. The bloodshed of innocent civilians, the deaths of children, and the bombing of hospitals and shelters are unacceptable to any civilized society. They said that a democratic and human rights-supporting country like France has the responsibility to take decisive action against this injustice.
