President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned Hindi writer and Jnanpith Award recipient Vinod Kumar Shukla, calling it an irreparable loss to the literary world.
Shukla passed away on Tuesday evening at a government hospital in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, due to age-related ailments. He was 88.
In a post in Hindi on X, President Murmu said Shukla enriched Hindi prose and poetry through his intuitive and powerful compositions, leaving a lasting imprint on Indian literature.

“The demise of Vinod Kumar Shukla, who immensely enriched prose and poetry through his intuitive and powerful creations, has caused an irreparable loss to the literary world,” the President said.
She also highlighted the distinctive sensitivity of his writing, noting that the empathy and concern he expressed for individuals and communities facing despair gave his work a special depth and meaning.

President Murmu extended her heartfelt condolences to Shukla’s family members and his countless readers and admirers, saying his literary legacy would continue to inspire generations.
