Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two more suspected terror associates in Kishtwar district as part of an ongoing operation to dismantle support networks allegedly assisting local militants, officials said on Friday.

With the latest arrests, the number of people taken into custody in the case has risen to four.

The action was carried out in connection with an investigation registered at the Kishtwar police station. Authorities said the operation is aimed at identifying and disrupting terror-linked support structures functioning in the Dachan area of the district.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar Naresh Singh, a detailed investigation led to the arrest of Tariq Ahmed Ginoo, an employee of the Forest Department, and Mohammad Iqbal, both residents of Tander village in Dachan.

Police suspect the two men were involved in providing logistical or other forms of assistance to local terrorists active in the region.

Earlier in the same case, police had arrested Muneer Ahmed and Mashkoor Ahmed, both residents of Chatroo, on similar allegations.

The SSP said investigators are continuing to examine the network and are working to identify any additional individuals who may have been involved in supporting terrorist activities.
