Continuing its drive against narcotics trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday attached properties worth more than ₹2.08 crore belonging to an alleged drug trafficker in Samba district.
The accused, identified as Narayan Sharma alias Shunna, a resident of Vijaypur in Samba, is currently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal under the provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act.
Police said the attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after an investigation concluded that the assets were allegedly purchased using money earned through illegal drug trafficking activities.
The properties attached include a residential house valued at around ₹48.5 lakh, a car worth nearly ₹10 lakh, and land estimated to be worth approximately ₹1.5 crore. The combined value of the seized assets exceeds ₹2.08 crore.
According to officials, a detailed inquiry revealed prima facie evidence linking the properties to proceeds generated from the illicit narcotics trade. Based on these findings, authorities initiated attachment proceedings under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.
