YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday criticised the Indian Youth Congress for its protest during the India AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam, saying the demonstration embarrassed the country and harmed India’s image on the global stage.
In a post on X, the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said the incident was shameful and raised serious questions about the direction of political discourse. He stressed that political differences should never result in actions that demean the nation internationally.
“Whatever our political differences may be, we should always present a united face to the world,” Reddy said, urging restraint and responsibility from all political parties.
His remarks came after Youth Congress workers staged a shirtless protest inside the summit venue on Friday, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being “compromised” and alleging that the country’s identity had been undermined at the event. The protesters removed their shirts as a mark of dissent during the summit, which was attended by international leaders and dignitaries.
The controversy escalated on Saturday as Bharatiya Janata Party workers held protests across multiple states, condemning the Congress over the Youth Congress demonstration.
Meanwhile, the Patiala House Court rejected the bail pleas of four arrested Indian Youth Congress workers and remanded them to police custody for five days. The accused have been identified as Krishna Hari, Kundan Yadav, Ajay Kumar and Narasimha Yadav.

Earlier, Delhi Police sought custody of the accused, stating that the protest involved the raising of anti-national slogans during a high-profile international event.
