After Deepak Kumar of Uttarakhand stood upto a mob which was harassing an elderly Muslim shopkeeper and became a symbol of brotherhood and amity, another Hindu youth, Rohit Prakash, is leading a campaign for the right of Muslim shopkeepers to do business beyond the permissible hours during Ramzan.

In the heartwarming move, Rohit Prakash of the Banbhulpura area of Haldwani, Uttarakhand, has submitted a memorandum to the local police to seek permission for Muslim shopkeepers to open their shops late into the night during the holy month of Ramzan.

Rohit led a delegation of public representatives, and councillors from the Banbhulpura area met the local police authorities to lift the night curfew so that members of the Muslim community could freely carry out their religious activities.

Here is a social media post in which Rohit Prakash is seen reading out his application to the Police authorities:

The memorandum stated that Ramzan is a time of worship and spiritual practice, during which Muslims pray in mosques late into the night, perform Taraweeh prayers, and prepare for Sehri.

During this period, markets and shops in Banbhulpura said keeping shops open at night would not create law and order problems. The delegation assured the administration that the people of the area always celebrate Ramadan in peace and harmony and follow the law.
The delegation also stated that the night curfew causes unnecessary difficulties for people in performing Sehri and religious activities.

By pleading for the Muslims, Rohit Prakash has stood for the Hindu-Muslim unity and brotherhood. The administration is likely to take a positive decision on the shopkeepers' request.
