External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday met Prime Minister Luc Frieden of Luxembourg, with discussions focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation across financial services, investments, technology and innovation.
Sharing details of the meeting on social media platform X, Jaishankar said, “Pleased to meet Prime Minister @LucFrieden of Luxembourg this morning. Conveyed warm greetings of PM @narendramodi. Discussed our growing cooperation in financial services, investments, technology & innovation. Thank him for his support for stronger India-EU ties.”
The Luxembourg engagement followed Jaishankar’s meetings in France earlier in the visit. On Monday, he met International Energy Agency (IEA) Executive Director Fatih Birol in Paris, where discussions centred on global energy issues, including oil markets, nuclear power and critical minerals.
In a post on X, Jaishankar said he appreciated Birol’s assessment of the global energy scenario and his support for India’s growth and development. Birol, describing the meeting as “warm and productive,” said the talks also covered India’s strong commitment to becoming a full member of the IEA.
During his Paris visit, Jaishankar also interacted with participants of the French-Indian Young Talents Program organised by the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie Franco-Indienne. He noted that the discussions focused on global transformations and the importance of India-France collaboration.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaishankar is scheduled to meet French leadership, including Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, as part of his six-day official visit to France and Luxembourg.
In Luxembourg, the External Affairs Minister’s engagements aim to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors, including meetings with members of the Indian community.
India and Luxembourg share warm and friendly relations, with diplomatic ties established in 1948. Luxembourg opened its embassy in New Delhi in February 2002 and maintains honorary consuls in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
