Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on Monday handed over financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each for medical treatment to 26 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) suffering from chronic diseases, an official statement said.
Singh handed over the assistance while attending a programme on distribution of medical assistance to seriously ill IDPs at the Manipur Trade Expo Centre Relief Camp, Lamboikhongnangkhong in Imphal West district.
"Special financial support is being provided to IDPs suffering from chronic diseases," he added.
He further said today’s disbursement of financial assistance is not the end of the government’s support to IDPs and assured that every possible assistance will be extended to those suffering from chronic diseases in future.
Singh said it is unfortunate that people are unable to live in their own homes and remarked that the prevailing situation has compelled many to endure the hardship of staying away from their homes.
