Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) Praesidium chief Arjunraj on Monday said that his party will contest the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections under its own symbol.
Speaking to reporters, Arjunraj said the party has submitted its demands to the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), which is expected to take a decision within the next couple of days.
“We have submitted all our demands. They will discuss it with the chief and inform us in a day or two. We will contest under our own symbol,” he said.
Meanwhile, DMK treasurer and Lok Sabha MP T R Baalu held seat-sharing discussions with Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) president M H Jawahirullah at the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam.
After the meeting, Jawahirullah said the MMK has sought the allocation of five seats in the upcoming Assembly elections and reaffirmed that the party would contest as part of the DMK-led alliance.
“Today, we held the first round of seat-sharing talks with the DMK. We have appealed for five seats. In the forthcoming Assembly elections, we will contest under the DMK alliance and campaign across Tamil Nadu. There will be a second round of talks with Chief Minister M K Stalin,” he said.
Earlier, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) president K M Kader Mohideen also met DMK leaders on Sunday as part of seat-sharing negotiations and demanded five seats to contest the polls under the alliance.

Seat-sharing discussions among DMK allies are underway ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
