Meghalaya Chief Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) chief Conrad K Sangma on Friday extended his congratulations to Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma following the party’s emphatic win in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.
The Tipra Motha Party secured a commanding victory by winning 24 of the 28 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to win four.
In a social media message, Sangma congratulated Pradyot Manikya and his party, stating that the victory strengthens their shared vision of a united and progressive North East. He also expressed optimism about future developments in the region.
Polling for the influential tribal council, which governs nearly two-thirds of Tripura’s land area and represents around 15 lakh people, took place on April 12. The counting of votes was conducted on April 17.

This marks the second consecutive win for the Tipra Motha Party, established in 2020 by Debbarma, a former royal family member. The party’s continued success, along with its demand for ‘Greater Tipraland’, reflects its strong support base among the tribal communities in the state.
