NDA-supported Independent candidate Parimal Nathwani was elected to one of the two Rajya Sabha seats from Jharkhand on Thursday, defeating Congress nominee Pranav Jha.
Following his victory, Nathwani expressed gratitude to the political leadership and legislators who supported his candidature, describing the election as an emotional and significant milestone in his parliamentary career.
In a message shared on social media platform X, Nathwani said the victory would mark his fourth term in the Rajya Sabha and his third term representing Jharkhand. He noted that the state holds special significance for him, as it was from Jharkhand that his parliamentary journey began in 2008.
Calling Jharkhand his karmabhoomi, Nathwani said returning to the Upper House from the state was a matter of both pride and humility.
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president Nitin Nabin and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for their support during the election.
Nathwani also acknowledged the backing of members of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, expressing appreciation to all legislators who voted for him and supported his campaign.
He said he would continue working with dedication towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Jharkhand and advancing the state's development priorities.
“Johar Jharkhand,” Nathwani said while reaffirming his commitment to serving the state and its residents in his new term in Parliament.
