Odisha female havildar files harassment complaint against officers

A woman havildar in the Odisha Police has filed a harassment complaint against two senior officers in Angul district, prompting authorities to initiate an inquiry, officials said on Thursday.

Following the complaint, the havildar also submitted her resignation, though it has not yet been accepted.

Superintendent of Police Rahul Jain stated that the matter is currently being examined by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). In addition, a separate investigation has been ordered, to be conducted by a team led by a senior femaleDeputy Superintendent of Police.

He assured that appropriate action would be taken once the investigations are complete.

The havildar has alleged that she faced continuous mental harassment from two of her superiors, which led her to consider stepping down from her post.

Speaking to reporters, she said the situation had become unbearable due to the conduct of the officers concerned.

The woman, who lives in Angul with her daughter, is currently awaiting the outcome of the probe.
