Inspite of major infiltration bids from Pakistan side the total terror incidents have shown a decline in Jammu and Kashmir region. Various steps taken by the government have been instrumental, the Union Home Ministry has told Parliament. Security forces have been consistent in foiling infiltration bids.

According to the Home Ministery the total number of terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir have reduced from 2018 to 2021 - a substantial decrease from 417 in 2018 to 229 in 2021.

The government said to fight terrorism it has streamlined intelligence gathering and has strengthened the anti-terror agancy NIA.

"Combating terrorism is a continuous process. The government has taken various steps in this regard, including strengthening of legal framework, streamlining of intelligence mechanism, setting up of National Investigation Agency (NIA) for investigation of prosecution of terror related cases, having various hubs of National Security Guards (NSG), stepping up border and coastal security, modernization of police forces and capacity building of state police forces etc," the MHA recently told Parliament.

Due to concerted and coordinated efforts of all stakeholders, terrorism-related violence has been contained to a large extent in the country, the ministry said.

According to a report published by Bharatshakti.in there have been repeated bids of infiltration from across the border. Security forces have collected enough evidence to establish Pakistan's complicity.

Here is a look at the some of the major Pakistan backed infiltration bids foiled by the Indian security forces in the recent past.

September 23, 2021 Rampur

The Indian army neutralized three terrorists who tried to infiltrate across the LoC in the Rampur sector of Baramulla district. Recoveries from them included Pakistani currency, grenades, AK-47s with Pakistani markings.

September 2-3, 2021 Krishna Ghati

3-4 terrorists escaped back to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir after they were detected by the Indian army trying to cross the LoC in Poonch district. A search of the encounter site threw up Pakistan made clothing, packed food items and medicines.

August 30, 2021 Poonch

One terrorist was killed in exchange of fire with the Indian army when 3-4 terrorists tried to sneak into India. The killed terrorist had an identity card of a banned Pak based terror group and bore testimony of his Pakistani citizenship.

February 10, 2021 Uri

The Indian army intercepted two terrorists who tried to infiltrate across the LoC into the Baramulla district. While one terrorist was killed, the second managed to escape back into Pak Occupied Kashmir. The killed terrorist had an identity card issued by the Pakistan government and a mobile phone with a Pakistan SIM card.

November 8, 2020 Machhal

Two terrorists were killed and one escaped back into Pak Occupied Kashmir. Among the seizures was a handwritten note of coordinates of the planned infiltration route from Kel in Pak Occupied Kashmir.

September 5, 2020 Gurez

Two intruders who tried to infiltrate into Bandipora were killed. The army recovered GPS sets from them that had coordinates of Pakistan towns like Gujranwala, Lahore and Kamri.

July 31, 2020 Machchal

The Indian army recovered Pakistan manufactured food packets and medicines from infiltrators who were pushed back across the LoC.

April 1, 2020 Keran

Five terrorists were killed when they tried to infiltrate through the Keran sector in Kupwara district. Recoveries from them included arms and ammunition, food items and medicines bearing Pakistani markings.
