New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday welcomed United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Delhi airport as the UAE leader arrived in the national capital on an official visit. The two leaders were seen travelling together from the airport in the same vehicle.
The visit takes place amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, including strained relations between Iran and the United States, continued unrest in Gaza, and the unresolved conflict in Yemen involving Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Prime Minister Modi shared a message on social media platform X to welcome the visiting leader, saying he had gone to the airport to receive “my brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.” He noted that the visit reflects the UAE President’s emphasis on strengthening ties between India and the UAE and said he looked forward to holding discussions during the visit.

The Prime Minister also posted photographs from the reception, including images of the two leaders inside a car and greeting each other warmly.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi and builds on the momentum generated by recent high-level exchanges between the two countries. These include the visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in September 2024 and the visit of Dubai Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in April 2025.
The UAE President’s visit coincides with key developments in the West Asian region, including preparations by US President Donald Trump to roll out the second phase of the Gaza Peace Plan, which envisages the formation of a National Committee to administer Gaza.
