Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a State visit to Israel on February 25–26 at the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Tuesday.

This will be Modi’s second visit to Israel, following his landmark 2017 trip, when he became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country.

During the visit, Modi and Netanyahu are expected to review progress under the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and explore avenues to further expand cooperation in areas such as science and technology, innovation, defence and security, agriculture, water management, trade and economic engagement, and people-to-people exchanges. The leaders are also likely to discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister will also call on Israeli President Isaac Herzog during the visit.

According to the MEA, the trip is aimed at reinforcing the deep-rooted strategic partnership between the two democracies and aligning efforts to address shared challenges while strengthening long-term collaboration.

Ahead of the visit, Netanyahu described the engagement as “historic” and referred to Modi as a close friend. In a post on X, the Israeli Prime Minister highlighted the growing strategic convergence between the two countries, describing their relationship as a strong alliance built on innovation, security cooperation and shared global vision.

Netanyahu said Modi will arrive on Wednesday and address the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament. The itinerary also includes participation in an innovation-focused event in Jerusalem and a joint visit to Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center.

Recalling their past interactions, Netanyahu emphasised the personal rapport between the two leaders and expressed confidence that the visit would further advance economic, diplomatic and security cooperation.

He also spoke of expanding strategic alignments involving India and other regional partners, while underscoring plans to deepen collaboration in high-technology sectors such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
