President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday condoled the loss of lives in a fire at a five-storey building in Kolkata and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured.
At least nine people, including a four-year-old child and two women, died and six others were injured on Wednesday in a fire at a dingy five-storey building in Kolkata,West Bengal that houses several hotels, police said.
President Droupadi Murmu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the tragic fire incident in Kolkata.

"The news of the loss of lives in the fire incident in Kolkata is extremely sad. I express my condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the swift recovery of those who have been injured," Murmu said in a post on X in Hindi.
