President Droupadi Murmu on Monday conveyed her greetings to the nation on the eve of Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Pongal and Magh Bihu, describing these festivals as expressions of India’s deep-rooted agricultural traditions and its spirit of unity.
In her message, the President said the celebrations reflect the country’s cultural diversity and shared heritage. “On this auspicious occasion, I hope the spirit of love and solidarity in our society grows stronger and that we continue working together towards building a prosperous nation,” she said.
Murmu noted that the festivals highlight India’s vibrant and varied cultural landscape and serve as a tribute to the nation’s farming community. She said these occasions provide an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of farmers who toil relentlessly to ensure food security for the country.
The President also said that festivals celebrated across different regions offer a moment to express gratitude to nature for its abundance.

She extended her warm wishes on the occasion of Lohri, to be celebrated on Tuesday, and Makar Sankranti, Pongal and Magh Bihu, which will be observed on Wednesday, to all Indians in the country as well as those living abroad.
