Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking in the Lok Sabha during the ongoing discussion on Vande Mataram, expressed deep pride and emotion over the historic milestone of completing 150 years of the iconic national song.

He said it is truly a moment of honour for every Indian that we are witnessing this special occasion while celebrating the spirit of India’s freedom, culture and unity.

PM Modi highlighted that Vande Mataram is not merely a song but a symbol of the country’s valour and cultural identity. He recalled how the song played a powerful role in igniting patriotic fervour during the freedom movement and became a rallying cry for countless freedom fighters who drew courage and hope from its words. The Prime Minister noted that even after Independence, the song continues to inspire generations, strengthening the idea of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”.

He emphasised that the essence of Vande Mataram reflects respect for the motherland, acknowledging India not just as a geographical entity but as a living spirit that binds its people together. PM Modi urged members of Parliament to take forward this legacy with collective pride and ensure that the younger generation understands the emotional and historic significance attached to the song.

Calling the moment a “matter of great pride for the entire nation,” he said the 150-year journey of Vande Mataram symbolizes India’s timeless cultural heritage and our shared aspirations for the future. He concluded by reiterating that honouring Vande Mataram is equivalent to honouring the soul of India itself.
