Sargun Shukla reviews security at Sinthan Pass in Kishtwar district

Sargun Shukla conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation in various parts of Kishtwar district and visited the strategic Sinthan Pass to assess operational preparedness and security arrangements, according to an official statement issued on Monday.

The DIG, accompanied by Naresh Singh, was briefed on the district’s security grid, anti-terror preparedness and ongoing policing initiatives.

During the review on Sunday, officials highlighted the movement of nomadic communities through higher-altitude areas, the challenges posed by the rugged mountainous terrain, and the strategic routes linking Kishtwar with Doda district and Anantnag district.

The briefing also covered sensitive border areas adjoining Himachal Pradesh, along with security measures and operational readiness maintained in remote regions.

During her visit to Sinthan Pass, Shukla interacted with deployed personnel and reviewed deployment patterns, security protocols and overall operational readiness.

She stressed the importance of heightened vigilance, sustained surveillance and close coordination among security agencies in sensitive areas.

Later, the DIG inspected Chatroo Police Station and Atholi Police Station, where she reviewed crime records, investigation work, administrative documentation and the functioning of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS).

She appreciated the efforts of Kishtwar Police and urged officers and personnel to continue working with dedication and coordination to maintain peace and security in the district.
