Ashoknagar
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday visited hailstorm-affected villages in the Narkheda area of Ashoknagar district and instructed local authorities to ensure swift relief and compensation for impacted farmers.
The Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region toured damaged fields, reviewed the extent of crop losses, and interacted with farmers to understand their concerns, according to an official statement.
Describing the damage as more than just an agricultural setback, Scindia said the hailstorm had dealt a severe blow to the farmers’ labour, aspirations and year-long efforts.
He directed the district administration to immediately carry out a detailed assessment of the affected areas, accurately estimate the losses, and expedite financial assistance to eligible farmers.
Assuring farmers of government support, Scindia said they would not be left to cope alone during this period of distress and that relief measures would be implemented without delay.
The BJP MP emphasised that the compensation process must remain transparent, straightforward and time-bound so that farmers are not burdened with repeated visits to government offices.
