Customs officials at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here have arrested six men for allegedly smuggling narcotics worth over Rs 48 crore into the country, an official statement said on Tuesday.
The accused were intercepted upon their arrival from Bangkok on December 11, the statement said.
During a detailed examination of their baggage, customs officials recovered 24 polythene pouches concealed inside four trolley bags—two grey, one green and one teal-coloured.
“The pouches contained a green-coloured narcotic substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana, weighing **48.016 kg (net weight),” the statement said.
It added that preliminary diagnostic tests confirmed the substance to be ganja/marijuana.

The approximate market value of the seized contraband is Rs 48.01 crore, customs officials said, adding that all six accused have been arrested and further investigation is underway.
