Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said 21st-century India takes bold and swift decisions, sets ambitious goals, and delivers results within defined timelines.

Speaking at a gathering of the Indian community in Muscat during his two-day visit, Modi hailed UNESCO’s recognition of Diwali on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. “Our ‘diya’ will now illuminate not just our homes, but the entire world,” he said, calling it a reflection of India’s message of hope, harmony, and humanity.

Addressing Indian students and the diaspora at the ‘Maitiri Parv’ event, he emphasised the enduring India-Oman ties, saying the countries are connected not just geographically but across generations. Modi noted, “Our diversity is a strong foundation of our culture… wherever we go, we respect diversity.”

He described the Indian diaspora as a “living example of coexistence and cooperation” and urged the youth to “dream big, learn deeply, innovate boldly.”
