Tamil Nadu assembly polls: 70% voter turnout recorded till 3 PM

Chennai

Tamil Nadu witnessed brisk polling on Thursday, with voter turnout reaching 70 per cent by 3 pm in elections being held for all 234 Assembly constituencies across the state.

According to the Election Commission of India, Salem district reported the highest turnout at 75.79 per cent.

Among major cities, Chennai registered 68.13 per cent, Madurai saw 67.15 per cent, Coimbatore recorded 71.16 per cent, while Tiruchirappalli posted 71.05 per cent turnout.

In Kolathur Assembly constituency, where Chief Minister M K Stalin is contesting, polling stood at 70.24 per cent by 3 pm.

At Chepauk-Tiruvallikeni Assembly constituency, turnout was 67.68 per cent. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin is seeking re-election from the seat.

Edappadi Assembly constituency recorded 75.84 per cent polling. Edappadi K Palaniswami is contesting from his home turf.

In Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituency, where Vijay is contesting, turnout reached 68.02 per cent by 3 pm.
