TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu on Tuesday urged the Lok Sabha to hold a discussion on the various free trade agreements (FTAs) being signed by India.
Speaking at the all-party meeting convened ahead of the Budget session of Parliament, Devarayalu stressed that deliberations on India’s FTAs with different countries and regional blocs were essential, especially in the wake of the recent conclusion of trade negotiations with the European Union.
The TDP leader also called for granting a “legal status” to Amravati, Andhra Pradesh’s new capital, similar to the provisions that exist for Hyderabad. He noted that a legislative measure might be necessary to provide statutory recognition to the city.
The Budget session is scheduled to commence on Wednesday with President Droupadi Murmu addressing a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
