Tejashwi Yadav on Friday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of politically weakening Nitish Kumar and forcing him to step down as Chief Minister of Bihar.
Speaking during the confidence motion debate in the Bihar Assembly, the Leader of Opposition said his party had anticipated that the BJP would not allow Nitish Kumar to continue in office. He claimed the BJP had earlier projected Nitish as the NDA’s leader until 2030, but had now “finished him off” politically.
Tejashwi also criticised the frequent political changes in the state, saying Bihar had witnessed five governments in five years, leading to instability.
Referring to the new Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, he noted Choudhary’s earlier political association with the Rashtriya Janata Dal and said he should remain cautious of those within the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh who may resent his rise.
In a lighter remark, Tejashwi mentioned an old speech by Samrat Choudhary’s father, Shakuni Choudhary, which recently resurfaced online. He joked that the BJP leadership may have sought to appease him by elevating his son.
