Security agencies have apprehended three individuals, including Sarabjit Singh, in connection with a breach at the Delhi Legislative Assembly premises, police officials said on Monday.

Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Puranpur in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh, allegedly drove a car through Gate No. 2 of the Assembly complex around 2:10 PM, breaking past a security barrier before entering the restricted area.

According to police sources, after gaining entry, the accused briefly occupied an official vehicle assigned to Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta and placed a bouquet and garland inside. A staff member who noticed the unusual activity confronted him, creating alarm within the premises.

Despite the presence of security personnel from the Delhi Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the individual managed to exit through the same gate within minutes. However, he was later tracked and detained along with two others. The vehicle involved was intercepted at a police checkpoint in the Rupnagar area.

Authorities in Pilibhit have also initiated inquiries, confirming that both the accused and the vehicle are linked to the district.

Reacting to the incident, BJP MLA Harish Khurana raised concerns over security lapses, especially in light of recent threat emails received by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Speaker Vijender Gupta. He called for stricter security measures and immediate action against those responsible.

The incident follows a series of alarming threats in March, when the Assembly and nearby Vidhan Sabha Metro Station received emails warning of possible bomb attacks. The messages reportedly mentioned several senior leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

Officials said investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the breach and assess whether it is linked to the earlier threats.
