Three people were killed after a speeding motorcycle rammed into a pedestrian at Marine Drive in south Mumbai early Monday morning, police said.
The accident took place around 5.40 am at the Parsi Gymkhana Junction signal on N S Road while the pedestrian was crossing the road.
According to police, the motorcycle, carrying a woman pillion rider, was being driven recklessly. The rider allegedly jumped the signal and struck the pedestrian.
Passersby rushed all three injured persons — the motorcyclist, the woman passenger and the pedestrian — to GT Hospital, where they were declared dead.
The pedestrian was identified as Kishor Pandurang Lamne (66), a resident of Girgaon. The rider, Krishna Uday Desai (19), was from Mulund. Police said efforts were underway to identify the woman passenger, believed to be in her early to mid-30s.
Investigators suspect the rider may have lost control due to high speed before crashing into the pedestrian.
