Two alleged associates of the gang led by Sandeep alias Kala Jatheri were arrested with illegal firearms in Dwarka, police said on Saturday.

The accused have been identified as Ankit (19) and Vinod alias Bona (28), both residents of Jharoda Kalan.

According to police, the duo was apprehended by a patrolling team from Baba Haridas Nagar Police Station under the Urban Extension Road flyover on Dichaon Road on the night of May 5.

Police said the suspects were noticed moving in a suspicious manner around 10:20 pm and allegedly tried to avoid checking by heading towards a dark stretch beneath the flyover.

Officers chased and overpowered them before carrying out a search.

During the search, police recovered a country-made pistol and a live cartridge from Ankit, while Vinod was allegedly found carrying a semi-automatic pistol along with a live cartridge.

During preliminary questioning, the accused allegedly told investigators that they were working for the Kala Jatheri gang.
