Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday hinted at the Samajwadi Party’s past governance record while asserting that his government has worked to transform the state’s law-and-order image. He said the BJP is already gearing up for a strong performance in the 2027 Assembly elections.
Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, Adityanath stressed that societies must take pride in their cultural heritage and said the state has been moving in that direction in recent years.
Responding to a question about the slogan, “Abhi Ayodhya ki baari hai, Kashi–Mathura baaki hai”, linked with some groups during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, he remarked, “We have reached everywhere, and continue to reach everywhere.”
He praised the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Ayodhya title dispute, calling it a landmark moment. “A society should always take pride in its heritage. We are grateful to the Supreme Court for examining all facts and evidence and delivering a unanimous verdict. The biggest success of Indian democracy was that everyone accepted the decision,” he said.
Asked to choose a single milestone from his tenure, Adityanath said it was difficult to pick just one achievement. Drawing a parallel with festivals celebrated by Sanatan Dharma followers, he said his tenure, too, is marked by many significant events. However, he identified three defining moments — the foundation stone laying of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, the construction of the grand temple after 500 years, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence during its inauguration.
Now the longest-serving Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in consecutive terms, Adityanath said he draws satisfaction from seeing a “riot-free state.”

“Guided by the Prime Minister and supported by the BJP, I have had the opportunity to serve the state for an extended period. After completing a full five-year term, people gave us a strong mandate again in 2022. We governed from 2017 to 2022, then returned with a decisive victory, and are now preparing to win again in 2027,” he said.
