Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly’s Budget Session, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Monday highlighted improvements in law and order, economic growth and overall development in the state since 2017.
Speaking to the media, Pathak said Uttar Pradesh has made significant progress over the past several years and now leads the country in maintaining law and order. He also pointed to a steady rise in the state’s per capita income.
“The state has witnessed extensive development since 2017. Uttar Pradesh now ranks first in law and order. We have also achieved notable success in improving per capita income. The economic survey will be presented today, and the budget will allocate funds for various development initiatives accordingly,” Pathak said.
The Budget Session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly begins on Monday and will continue until February 20. The state budget for the 2026–27 financial year is scheduled to be presented on February 11.
In a move aimed at encouraging wider participation, the Assembly has earmarked a daily discussion window from 5 pm to 8 pm to allow members additional time to raise issues beyond regular House proceedings.
Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana said efforts were being made to ensure the House functions for at least 30 days this year, urging opposition members to engage in constructive debate rather than disruptions.
Security has been tightened around the Assembly complex with the deployment of police personnel and the Rapid Response Force, while enhanced traffic arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth movement.
Ahead of the session, NDA legislators held a preparatory meeting on Sunday. Addressing reporters later, Pathak said all MLAs were enthusiastic and expressed confidence that the session would be productive.
