Wealth is needed only to be happy but wealth should not be created at the cost of happiness, according to Vice President C P Radhakrishnan.
He was speaking at the function in the national capital to mark the 78th Chartered Accountants' Day.
"Wealth is required only to be happy. We should not create wealth at the cost of happiness... what is life, (when) there is no happiness, there is no life. So, we have to earn money, we have to spend money, and we have to spend money in such a way that our sons and daughters should realise the value of money.
"If they realise the value of money, that is the successful story of every parent," the vice president said.
