Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday lauded the architecture and design of the Samrat Samprati Museum in Gandhinagar, saying it beautifully captures India’s grandeur and civilisational identity.

Speaking at the inauguration at Koba Tirth, the Prime Minister highlighted that the museum’s seven galleries collectively showcase the country’s rich cultural diversity and heritage.

He noted that the first gallery introduces visitors to the Navpad (Nine Jewels) — central to Jain philosophy — including Arihant, Siddha, Acharya, Upadhyay and Sadhu Sangh. These are linked to the core principles of right faith, right knowledge, right conduct and right austerity.

“These teachings inspire people to live disciplined and righteous lives. When knowledge is right, it becomes the foundation for equality and service,” Modi said.

Extending greetings on Mahavir Jayanti, the Prime Minister said he felt fortunate to visit the sacred site and paid homage to Lord Mahavira.

“In India, knowledge has always flowed freely. Across eras, sages and Tirthankaras have contributed to expanding this tradition,” he said, emphasising the country’s long-standing intellectual and spiritual heritage.

Reflecting on history, Modi contrasted different models of governance, noting that while some rulers relied on violence, Samrat Samprati promoted non-violence, truth, non-stealing and non-possession.

“To govern with a spirit of service and selflessness is a lesson from our past,” he said.
