The recently signed India–UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is expected to significantly accelerate trade in the cosmetics and personal care sector, with several British beauty and wellness brands preparing to expand their presence in the Indian market.
The UK’s beauty industry contributed £31.5 billion to GDP in 2025, and in 2024 exported £4.3 billion worth of beauty and personal care products. Under the FTA, India’s import tariffs in this category — currently 30% — will be reduced to 10%, with further phase-downs likely over the next decade. Industry leaders say this move will improve pricing and product access for consumers in both countries.
Against this backdrop, multiple UK companies are participating in Cosmoprof India 2025, a leading B2B beauty trade event. Exhibitors in the British pavilion include brands operating across skincare, cosmetics, men’s grooming, haircare, nailcare, beauty tools, wellness, manufacturing solutions and AI-based beauty tech.
Harjinder Kang, His Majesty's Trade Commissioner for South Asia and British Deputy High Commissioner for Western India, said the FTA “unlocks growth opportunity for beauty and personal care businesses on both sides” and will drive deeper commercial partnerships.
