The government of Delhi has honoured Riyazuddin Mansoori, a lshopkeeper, who emerged as the face of compassion and humanity in the recent hotel fire in South Delhi, and 19 local citizens for their exceptional courage in saving lives in the tragedy.
Riyazuddin Mansoori and his son Armaan threw cotton mattresses from their shop in Hauz Rani Khas area of Malviya Nagar in the street to create a cushion for the inmates jumping from the hotel fire and saved at least 12 lives without caring for their financial loss.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recognised 25 individuals—comprising 20 civilians and 5 police personnel—for their bravery in the Malviya Nagar fire rescue. Among those commended were Riyazuddin's son, Armaan, and various other residents and police personnel, all of whom received cash rewards and certificates for their efforts to save lives.
Rekha Gupta honoured these bravehearts at a special ceremony held at the Delhi Secretariat. The Chief Minister presented each with a cheque of 21,000 rupees, a citation, and a handkerchief.
Following the felicitation ceremony, the Delhi Chief Minister's Office (CMO) shared a post on the social media platform X. The CMO wrote that the Delhi government heartily salutes all these true heroes who put humanity above their own safety.

Riyazuddin lost mattresses worth Rs 2 lakh in the rescue mission. He has announced that the civil society groups have compensated him for his loss, and people should no longer send him cash.
CM Rekha Gupta specifically praised Riyazuddin's presence of mind and bravery. The Chief Minister presented him with an honorarium of 21,000 rupees and directed officials to ensure the government reimburses the full cost of the mattresses.
In this prestigious program held at the Secretariat, the heroes of both the Malviya Nagar and Saidulajab accidents were called on stage and honored. When the building collapsed in Saidulajab, Saket, District Project Officer of the South District Disaster Management Authority, Chander Prakash, took charge of the relief work. Along with him, Delhi Police Inspector Ritesh Kumar Sharma, Constable Manish Kumar Jangid, Vivek Shakya, Angad Meena and residents Kapil Giri, Harjeet Kumar and Dr. Rafiq Khan rescued people from the debris.
There is a long list of people who worked together for the relief work in the Malviya Nagar hotel fire accident. Those who were honored include Israr Khan, Kamal, Shashi, Pawan, Rakesh, Sanjay Goyal, Shiv, Govind, Kunal, Mohammad Owais, Mohammad Afzal, Mohammad Anees, Aamir Khan, Wasim Raja, Mohammad Sohaib Khan, Riyazuddin, Wasim Khan Gauri, Rajpal. Along with them, Delhi Police Inspector Vinay Yadav, Head Constable Dinesh, Kartar, Rajveer and Deshraj were also honored by the Chief Minister. Local MLA Satish Upadhyay and Kartar Singh Tanwar were also present on this occasion.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta paid a heartfelt tribute to those who lost their lives in the accidents. She expressed her deep condolences to the families of the victims.

The Delhi government has announced an ex gratia relief of ₹10 lakh to the next of kin of each person killed in the tragedy. Additionally, those seriously injured in these accidents will receive ₹2 lakh each.
The assistance should be directly deposited into the victims' bank accounts promptly, so that no distressed families have to run around offices.
