Hockey India has announced a 24-member Indian Women’s Hockey Team squad for the upcoming tour of Argentina, scheduled from April 13 to 17, 2026, in Buenos Aires.
The four-match exposure tour against a strong Argentine side comes at a crucial juncture in India’s international calendar, with the FIH Hockey World Cup Belgium & Netherlands 2026 and the Asian Games on the horizon.
The squad blends experience with emerging talent, reflecting the growing depth in Indian women’s hockey under head coach Sjoerd Marijne.
Midfielder Salima Tete will continue to lead the side as captain, bringing stability and dynamism to the midfield. One of the key highlights is the return of forward Deepika, who rejoins the squad after rehabilitation and is expected to resume her role as India’s primary drag-flicker.
In her absence, players like Navneet Kaur, Manisha Chauhan, Udita and Annu stepped up, with Annu impressing through her drag-flicking ability. Deepika’s return is expected to further strengthen India’s attacking options.
Veteran goalkeeper Savita also returns after missing the recent qualifiers, adding experience to the squad. Young goalkeeper Bichu Devi Kharibam, who performed admirably in her absence, retains her place, ensuring strong competition for the position.
Defender Jyoti and forward Mumtaz Khan are among the other returning players, while Baljeet Kaur continues to be a key attacking presence. Midfielder Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke has also earned selection following consistent performances.
Young talents such as Rutuja Dadaso Pisal, Ishika and Sakshi Rana will look to make the most of the opportunity against top-tier opposition, gaining valuable international exposure.
Speaking on the squad, Marijne said the tour will help test combinations and build depth. “This tour is a valuable opportunity for us to give more players international exposure and test them against a very strong opponent like Argentina,” he said.
